Earth Art believes that garden design should always be part of the overall concept of home design and construction - so we’re happy to hear from you early, especially if you’re planning to build.

A list of your likes and dislikes are also useful, and feedback about how your garden is to be used and by whom – is also important.
We all dream of a low maintenance garden, but a maintenance free garden is only a dream! At Earth Art, it's important for us to know how you intend to look after the garden once it’s been created.

With this in mind, feel free to show us reference of other gardens you like, collect magazine articles and pictures, make notes. Good communication is the key to successful landcape design.

If it’s possible, let us know your estimated project budget during our initial consultation, we can use this information to create effective design solutions, tailored to your needs.

There’s no charge for our first hour of consultation, the fee thereafter is $100 (plus GST) per hour.
When our initial consultation is completed, we will provide you with a verbal estimate – and we’ll explain how long the concept design will take to create.

This is the right time to ask questions, feel free to explore any part of the assessment you are not sure about.
We can follow-up with a written confirmation of our estimate, at your request.

2. Your Design

a) Concept design
Your design will be submitted as a drawing, which outlines the hard landscape, planting area and features - with elevation detail, if applicable.

b) Construction plans
You may need plans to supply to your construction contractor. Your garden can be constructed by an independent tradesperson – or Earth Art can recommend an experienced and qualified constructor who can also act as project manager.
It’s entirely up to you.

c) Planting design
Part of the overall design of your landscape is an outline plan, which details plants and a planting guide for the whole garden or for selected areas. A plant list will be provided, as will an estimate of the cost to achieve this plantscape. As part of the Earth Art service, plants can be sourced and supplied at competitive rates.

Earth Art design fees are $100 per hour (plus GST) for each stage.

The project management service offered by Earth Art is based on 15 per cent of total works (figures current for 2004).
